Product Overview

OPSWAT MetaDefender Core protects your organization by preventing advanced cybersecurity threats on multiple data channels. MetaDefender Core leverages several proprietary technologies, including Deep Content Disarm and Reconstruction (Deep CDR), Multiscanning, File-Based Vulnerability Assessment, Data Loss Prevention and Threat Intelligence to provide comprehensive protection for your networks and infrastructure against increasingly sophisticated malware.

Release Highlights

New statistics for executive report

MetaDefender Core executive report provides a comprehensive set of performance statistics and operational information for the product and its anti-malware engines. Using a series of matrices and trend graphs, it also displays a quick snapshot of overall risk and potential malware issues present on the network. In this release, new statistics are added to facilitate security administration, including:

  • Average file size based on processed file type
  • Average processing time with newly added hash calculation time, archive extraction time and per AV engine processing time

Hashing and archive extraction time are also added to file processing result:

Newly added exclusion list for proxy server configuration

Administrators now can classify a list of destination addresses to be excluded from going through pre-configured proxy server by configurations in the MetaDefender Core management console. Different entries can be separated with semicolons.

This configuration is applied to connections triggered by MetaDefender Core for the following activities:

  • Callback (webhook)
  • Engine update
  • Scan by download link
  • Single Sign-On integration (Fetch metadata from URL and login)
  • Remote PostgreSQL database connection

IP range (CIDR notation), valid IP addresses and hostnames are supported.

Ubuntu Linux 20.04 is now supported

MetaDefender Core supports a wide variety of Windows and Linux operating systems (OS). We continually develop our product to support more OS to better serve our customers' deployment variants. This version brings users a new supported OS for Linux – Ubuntu 20.04. Please see our Recommended System Configuration for details.

More comprehensive logging information for scanning activity

Users now get enriched processing logging information, comprising:

  • Absolute submitted file path for local scan feature
  • Clear indication to distinguish between asynchronous and synchronous scans
  • File path, file name, callback URL, sanitize URL, download-from URL for both asynchronous and synchronous scans

API key in the ignition file

In our continued efforts to facilitate deployment automation, API key for the initial administrator user account is now definable in the ignition file, where the initialization process is configured.

Other Enhancements

Release version 5.1.0 also comes with a variety of improvements in security, product stability, and end-user experience, such as:

  • Timeout result for Proactive DLP processing
  • Apparent indication for archive extraction in STDIN for post-action
  • Network drive and UNC path acceptance for update folder pickup setting
  • New simplified REST API to download output files after Deep CDR and Proactive DLP process
  • Resizable table columns with drag and slide
