MetaDefender Core v4.20.1 Release

Product Overview

OPSWAT MetaDefender Core protects your organization by preventing advanced cybersecurity threats on multiple data channels. MetaDefender Core leverages several proprietary technologies, including Deep Content Disarm and Reconstruction (Deep CDR), Multiscanning, File-Based Vulnerability Assessment, Data Loss Prevention and Threat Intelligence.

Release Highlight

This release was focused mainly on improving MetaDefender Core performance and user experience by enhancing processing speed and facilitating PostgreSQL database integration.

Database admin credentials management

Administrators can now modify MetaDefender Core’s PostgreSQL database admin credentials using command line interface (CLI) tool or the web management console. This comes in useful when the PostgreSQL database admin password contains special characters or Unicode characters, which is unsupported by the PostgreSQL server and MetaDefender Core 4.19.0 or newer.

  • Users can change password only after PIN code has been set.
  • If “Change password on Postgres server” is checked, the password will be also changed on the Postgres server.
  • In shared database mode, “Change password on Postgres server” will be disabled.

Upgrade mechanism changes

In the past, when upgrading MetaDefender Core and its database to a newer version, if the update processing failed, the database structure could be changed during the process and could not be retrieved. From this release, the old database is maintained regardless of the upgrade result. Administrators can contact our customer service team to recover the old database if needed.
