Ho Chi Minh City, July 6, 2023 - OPSWAT, a leading company in cybersecurity protecting critical infrastructure, and Ho Chi Minh City Information Security Services Joint Stock Company (HISSC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in building a training and exercise environment for information security of operational technology (OT) systems - Cyber Range. The details of the signing ceremony are as follows:
• Time: 8:30 - 11:00 | Thursday, July 6, 2023
• Location: QTSC Hall, QTSC Building 1, Quang Trung Software City, Tan Chanh Hiep Ward, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City
Cooperation to Meet the Urgent Need for OT Cybersecurity
The fourth industrial revolution and digital transformation have driven businesses to construct smart factory models with devices and machinery connected through the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), sharing and analyzing data using information technology (IT) applications, enabling organizations to optimize production and device operations. This development has led to the convergence of IT and OT systems.
When OT and IT converge, meaning that more OT system devices are connected to IT networks and the internet, the risk of cyberattacks increases for organizations that are not prepared with cybersecurity solutions.
According to a recent report, 93% of organizations with OT systems have experienced cybersecurity attacks in 2022, and 78% of organizations reported multiple attacks. This indicates that OT systems are a top target for cybercriminals.
In this context, OPSWAT, as a global provider of critical infrastructure cybersecurity solutions, together with HISSC, a provider of information security monitoring, prevention, and incident response services, have decided to collaborate in building the Cyber Range training and exercise facilities.
Cyber Range is a training and simulation environment for information security designed for organizations and businesses in the industrial, manufacturing, and technical infrastructure sectors, helping them practice and update their knowledge on advanced security technologies to protect their operational technology systems.
Benefits of the Cyber Range Training Program for Critical Infrastructure Organizations
With the purpose of this collaboration, Cyber Range is designed to train and enhance cybersecurity skills for executives and IT professionals responsible for managing and operating OT systems in critical sectors such as energy (electricity, water), essential infrastructure (flood prevention, transportation, security cameras, banking), and production lines, in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces. Participants will gain updated knowledge and hands-on experience with advanced security solutions and technologies for OT systems and industrial control systems (ICS).
Cyber Range provides a simulated and safe environment for cybersecurity engineers to practice and enhance skills in prevention, detection, and response to network attacks in a visually immersive way without affecting the actual operations of the active system.
Mr. Le Minh Tuan
Deputy Director General of HISSC
As a pioneer in network security protecting critical infrastructure, OPSWAT is a trusted partner providing deep security products for the Cyber Range training and exercise environment for information security. "At OPSWAT, we have spent over 20 years developing comprehensive IT/OT security platforms to protect critical infrastructure worldwide. Trusted by over 1,500 organizations in 80 countries, including financial institutions, defense agencies, manufacturing facilities, energy plants, aerospace organizations, transportation systems, OPSWAT is confident and ready to support government agencies and businesses in Vietnam to enhance their safety and cybersecurity capabilities," shared Mr. Benny Czarny, Founder and CEO of OPSWAT.
“We are honored to provide our advanced security products for OT systems such as MetaDefender Kiosk, Secure Access OT, MetaDefender OT Security, Netwall, and MetaDefender Industrial Firewall for the Cyber Range program to help cybersecurity engineers gain practical experience with advanced security technology and critical infrastructure protection solutions. Additionally, OPSWAT's cybersecurity experts will support the development of real-world simulation scenarios to enhance participants' capabilities and experience in dealing with complex cyberattacks.”
Mr. La Manh Cuong
Vice President of Research and Development, Managing Director of OPSWAT Vietnam
In addition to enhancing knowledge and skills in cybersecurity for the OT community through simulating and creating realistic attack scenarios, Cyber Range also helps organizations assess the security level of their OT systems, as well as build and test defensive strategies against network attacks in an OT environment, leveraging advanced security technologies from OPSWAT.
