Cybersecurity is a fast-moving industry, and so are the vendors behind the technologies you trust. To ensure MetaScan™ Multiscanning continues to deliver accurate and reliable results, OPSWAT is updating several anti-malware vendor names across our platform.
These updates reflect recent mergers, acquisitions, and rebranding by our engine partners. While the names will change, detection capabilities and performance remain exactly the same.
What’s Changing?
Here are the vendor name updates you’ll see starting October 1st, 2025:
*Note: Following Arctic Wolf’s acquisition of Cylance from BlackBerry, the Cylance technology was rebranded as Aurora and is now offered as Arctic Wolf’s anti-malware engine.
Why It Matters
MetaScan™ Multiscanning uses 30+ leading anti-malware engines to deliver over 99.2% malware detection accuracy. These vendor name updates ensure:
- Consistent scan results across all deployments
- Accurate reporting in logs and APIs
- Smooth integration with your custom workflows
Where You’ll See These Changes
The updated vendor names will appear in:
And will be reflected in:
- Module page
- Scan results page
- REST API results
- Log content
JSON Output Example
Here’s an example of how the change will look in JSON output:
What Will Stay the Same
- Detection capabilities and performance remain unchanged.
- JSON structure and overall scan process remain the same.
How to Manage Custom Integrations
For most customers, no action is required.
If your deployment relies on custom integrations that use hard-coded vendor names, please follow these steps:
1. Pin the engines before the update to prevent overwrites.
2. Update hard-coded strings to reflect the new vendor names.
3. Unpin the engines after making updates.
4. Verify integration functionality.
