Hawaii State Digital Archives Uses Metadefender Core to Secure State Records

By OPSWAT

In 2010, the Hawaii State Archives introduced the Digital Archives Project, an agency whose primary goal is to collect and permanently store state government records that would possess historical, legal and fiscal value. Protecting each record from loss, alteration, deterioration and technological obsolescence while maintaining them in a trustworthy state is their primary responsibility. The Hawaii State Digital Archives needed a solution that could provide them with a high assurance that files submitted were free from malware and that it could identify and analyze the mass amount of file types being transferred.

The Hawaii State Digital Archives chose Metascan® (now MetaDefender Core) to deliver advanced malware analysis of transferred files, as well as files already stored within the repository. By using Metascan 4, in addition to the existing anti-malware software package, all incoming files will be scanned for malware against 5 anti-malware engines that allows for better threat detection.

The multi-scanning engines, provided by Metascan, increase the level of assurance for the Hawaii State Digital Archives that each file stored in their repository will remain free from malware, as well as ensuring the integrity of the files and preserving the data in a trustworthy state for future generations.
