The OPSWAT Vulnerability Engine now supports native Microsoft vulnerability enumerations, known as Microsoft Security Bulletins (MSBs), in addition to Common Vulnerability Enumerations (CVEs). With this new feature, the OPSWAT Vulnerability Engine will integrate even better with Microsoft platforms, offering more detailed and accurate analysis, better response and alerting times, and better remediation information.
While CVEs are important as an industry standard for vulnerability identification, they're often not as up-to-date, nor as detailed, as vulnerability enumerations from the vendors themselves.
Many, if not most, enterprises rely on Microsoft technologies, and because of the high frequency of targeted attacks on Microsoft platforms, effective vulnerability integration with Microsoft technology is highly important for enterprise security.
Integration with MSBs will let OPSWAT customers know:
- Which specific patches to deploy for remediation
- Which KBs are relevant and should be checked
- What specific systems in their inventory are most vulnerable
OPSWAT MSB technology looks at factors such as system architecture, particular variants of Microsoft platforms, and Microsoft patch levels. MSB technology also looks below the product and operating system level, analyzing shared components used by many systems. OPSWAT's integration of vendor-specific vulnerability enumerations allows for deep integration with important technologies and platforms that are the primary threat vectors for most IT consumers.
Adding MSB support makes OPSWAT's Vulnerability Engine more effective, more up-to-date, and more valuable for enterprise users.
