The latest release delivers important updates to MetaDefender Core and MetaDefender Distributed Cluster, strengthening integration security, improving audit visibility, enhancing file handling flexibility, and expanding centralized management for air-gapped environments. These improvements help security teams operate more effectively in complex, distributed, and regulated environments.
MetaDefender Core V5.12.0 Highlights
Import Settings Now Supports Certificates
Administrators can now include certificate configurations when exporting and importing settings. This makes it easier to replicate deployments, restore backups, and maintain secure, consistent environments across multiple Core instances.
OAuth Support for Microsoft 365
MetaDefender Core now supports OAuth-based authentication for Microsoft 365 integrations, enabling secure, standards-based authorization for email and file scanning workflows.
Note: Microsoft has announced the deprecation of Basic Authentication for Exchange Online’s Client Submission (SMTP AUTH). Originally scheduled for removal in September 2025, the change will now begin on March 1, 2026, with full deactivation by April 30, 2026. Organizations using Basic Authentication should transition to OAuth or other supported authentication methods before this deadline.
Extended Log Details
This version adds more options for log level setting, which provides a consistent reference for tracing a file through different processing stages. Combined with extended log levels, administrators can now follow the full lifecycle of a file with greater detail, improving troubleshooting, auditing, and system monitoring.
Processing History for Rejected Files
Previously, files exceeding the maximum size limit were blocked and not stored in history. Their records are now logged in Processing History, providing administrators with a clear audit trail that MetaDefender Core received and rejected the file due to policy constraints.
Enhanced UI for Archive Extraction
The scan result page now displays all extracted archives, giving users clear visibility into nested file content.
NGINX Upgrade to 1.28.0
The built-in NGINX web server has been upgraded to version 1.28.0, delivering improved performance, updated security patches, and enhanced stability for web traffic handling.
MetaDefender Distributed Cluster V2.3.0 Highlights
Enhanced Air-Gapped Environment Support
This release introduces a set of features designed specifically for air-gapped or highly restricted environments, enabling secure and centralized license and update management without internet access:
- Offline License Update: Download license packages from My OPSWAT Portal and upload them directly to MetaDefender Distributed Cluster.
- Offline Module Update for All Engines: Easily update all engine packages and then distribute them to all connected Core instances.
High Availability for Postgres
Maintain continuous database access with PostgreSQL high availability, minimizing downtime and improving reliability in mission-critical environments.
Core Instance Monitoring
Monitor the activity of all Core instances from a single, centralized interface for improved visibility and faster issue resolution.
