OPSWAT is excited to announce MetaDefender Drive v4.3.3 and MetaDefender Drive Toolkit v3.7.3, scheduled for release on July 9, 2025. This release includes enhancements focused on improving hardware compatibility, streamlining product integrations, and delivering smarter reporting for better visibility and control.
Key Updates in MetaDefender Drive v4.3.3
Limited Memory and UEFI Support
This release brings broader hardware compatibility and improves boot reliability on systems that restrict available memory during UEFI initialization. MetaDefender Drive can now operate in low-memory UEFI environments with improved efficiency, improving the boot and scan operations performance across a wider range of hardware platforms.
Seamless Integration with My OPSWAT™ Central Management 10
MetaDefender Drive Centralized Updates
MetaDefender Drive can now be updated directly from My OPSWAT Central Management 10, including both MetaDefender Drive software and engine versions.
To enable this feature, users must follow these steps:
1. Ensure MetaDefender Drive is enrolled and managed by My OPSWAT Central Management 10.
2. From the My OPSWAT Central Management dashboard, set Definition Update and Version Update to From OCM.
3. From the MetaDefender Drive user interface, go to OPSWAT Management Console under the Settings tab, and ensure the checkboxes for Definition Update and Version Update are selected.
Real-Time Health Insights
With this integration, MetaDefender Drive periodically sends system health reports to My OPSWAT Central Management 10, offering real-time visibility into CPU usage, disk space, and engine health. This reporting capability helps security teams measure system status and performance faster for enhanced monitoring and troubleshooting.
Disk Selection Support with Partition Labeling
MetaDefender Drive now makes it easier for users to confidently identify the correct partition to scan. Users can now see partition labels when initiating a scan, making it easier to identify the correct partition.
Insightful Skipped Files Reporting
Scan reporting has been enhanced to provide summarized reasons for skipped files with detailed context. This improvement aims to provide security teams with better visibility into which files were skipped and why, to improve traceability and simplify audits.
Enhanced Proactive Data Loss Protection Control
A new “Sensitive Info Threshold” setting has been added to enable users to define the level for file contents to be flagged or blocked. This new feature provides more flexibility in managing data loss protection based on organizational needs.
Improved File Type Handling in Proactive DLP™
This release comes with an improvement for the Proactive DLP engine, preventing some .docx, .xlsx, and .txt files from being falsely flagged as Unsupported File Type. This improves the overall scan accuracy and reduces alerts that might be misleading for some users.
Key Enhancements in MetaDefender Drive Toolkit v3.7.3
The latest version of MetaDefender Drive Toolkit v3.7.3 focuses on improving the user experience with improved update notifications, clearer support package generation workflows, and a cleaner interface.
New Version Notification
Starting with this release, a notification will appear at the bottom of the MetaDefender Drive Toolkit dashboard whenever a new version is available. This helps users perform MetaDefender Drive Toolkit updates as soon as a new version is released to receive the latest features.
Improved Support Package Generation Guidance
The troubleshooting has been improved for less friction when submitting issues. The new user interface shows the exact location of the generated support package, making it easier and faster for users to generate and share it with OPSWAT.
Smoother Startup Experience
MetaDefender Drive Toolkit's startup performance has been improved. In addition, the visual experience has been enhanced by preventing the black box shown during launch from affecting the user experience.
