For those who may be new to our products, Metascan Online is a cloud-based multi-scanning security solution leveraging 40 different commercial antivirus vendors to scan files for malware. OPSWAT is proud to announce the official launch of the latest component of Metascan Online, an IP Scanning feature that allows users to scan websites for threats and malicious behavior using multiple IP reputation sources.
Beta testing for the feature began in July, and we’re excited to unveil the final product. Along with the original features of the IP Scanning tool, we made some additions during beta, including the ability to scan domain names as well as IP addresses. If you are suspicious of a domain and want to verify its safety before visiting the site you no longer have to look up the IP address in order to complete the scan. Working in the same way as the IP scan, the domain will be checked against 13 IP reputation sources to see if it has been flagged as suspicious.
Metascan Online now also includes an experimental confidence level that rates the reliability of the scan results from a given reputation source. Each source receives their own confidence score out of 100, so a higher score signifies a greater likelihood the scan results are correct! Since the feature is currently in beta, we’d love to get your feedback and ideas for improvement. Tweet us @OPSWAT to let us know what you think!
