OPSWAT released new versions of Metascan, MetaDefender Endpoint and the Metascan Management Station this week.

The beta release of Metascan 3.8.1 provides a preview of what will be included in the full release, expected later this month. In this release, we have added VMware virtual machine scanning to Metascan, which allows you to leverage all of the multi-scanning capabilities of Metascan to scan the entire contents of VMware virtual machines. There are a number of other significant enhancements as well, including more thorough scanning and reporting of archives. Also included in the release is the ability to convert document and image file types to other file types through the command line interface. Converting files to a safer file type, in conjunction with antivirus scanning, can help remove potential threats embedded within a file.
We’re also excited to announce the release of a new version of Metascan Management Station, which allows you to manage your existing Metascan servers through any web browser. Through the web-based management station, network administrators are able to perform various commands including determining the engine definition status of all antivirus engines on the Metascan servers and easily apply definition updates.
Also released is the latest version of the endpoint scanning solution MetaDefender Endpoint (3.0.5). The recent update includes minor feature enhancements and support for scanning VMware (requires Metascan 3.8.1 or later). The latest version of MetaDefender Endpoint and the beta versions of MetaDefender Endpoint for Linux and Mac are also included in Metascan 3.8.1.
