OPSWAT Supports New Windows 8 Applications

OPSWAT today announced the introduction of support for Windows 8 in the OESIS Framework, the industry standard for detecting and managing endpoint software applications. OESIS Framework, which is currently integrated into solutions from Cisco, Juniper, Citrix, F5 and many others, includes support for thousands of software applications compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux and Android operating systems, and will also support applications for Windows 8 as they become available.

OPSWAT, the industry leader in software management SDKs, multiple engine malware scanning solutions and interoperability certification, has already released core support for Windows 8 through the OESIS Framework, and is currently monitoring releases of new security applications compatible with Windows 8 to add support for these. By adding support for these new applications, OPSWAT will enable compliance checking capabilities for the users and companies who adopt the Windows 8 operating system. Support is already being built for Windows 8 products from major vendors such as Avast, Microsoft, Kaspersky Lab and others.

"We are currently monitoring the market for new products that are compatible with Windows 8, and we will be working with software vendors through the OPSWAT Certification Program to ensure the compatibility of their new Windows 8 products," said Amir Harush, Director of Engineering at OPSWAT.

The OPSWAT Certification Program is a free partnering opportunity for software vendors to make sure that their applications are compatible with the leading SSL VPN and NAC solutions that utilize OPSWAT's OESIS Framework. Applications with this industry-wide compatibility have significantly reduced compatibility issues for end users and reduced support tickets for application vendors. In the past year, OPSWAT has also released support for numerous applications on new operating systems Mac OS X Lion and Android by partnering with vendors through OPSWAT Certification.

Software vendors with new applications, especially those for Windows 8, Mac OS X Mountain Lion, and Android, are encouraged to submit these products for OPSWAT Certification. More information, including a video explaining the benefits of the program, is available on OPSWAT's website.

As part of preparations for the release of Windows 8, OPSWAT is also adding support for new applications through their AppRemover technology. AppRemover is a tool that enables silent, thorough uninstallation of security applications and is available as a stand-alone application or CLI. A free demo of this tool is available at www.appremover.com.
