OPSWAT today announced that the free AppRemover tool, which helps users easily uninstall antivirus and public file sharing applications, is now available on the Mac platform.
Antivirus programs are known for being notoriously difficult to completely remove from a computer; their built-in uninstallers often leave files behind in the registry. With the release of the AppRemover for Mac tool, users are able to easily detect and remove security applications from their personal computers.
The release of the Mac version comes soon after the Windows version of the tool surpassed three million downloads from www.appremover.com. Available for uninstalling antivirus software from Windows machines since 2009, AppRemover has become one of the most widely used security software uninstallation tools. In late 2012, OPSWAT released a new look for the AppRemover tool and the ability to remove public file sharing applications in addition to security applications.

Available as a command line interface (CLI) or a highly configurable SDK, AppRemover is a great solution for IT teams looking to upgrade their entire network from one security application to another or remove unwanted applications such as public file sharing. AppRemover can also allow software vendors to add uninstallation features to their own applications.
AppRemover currently supports removal of more than 350 different security applications and more than 120 public file sharing applications on Windows from such vendors as Symantec, McAfee, Avira and many others. AppRemover for Mac supports removal of more than 35 different security applications and 18 public file sharing applications. OPSWAT continues to improve AppRemover by adding support for new applications in frequent product updates.
