Metascan Online Web Server Maintenance

On Saturday December 7, 2013 Metascan Online web servers experienced brief downtime due to disruptive maintenance performed by one of our hosting providers, Windows Azure.

Metascan Online web servers are load balanced and distributed around the world in North America, Europe and Asia. During the Windows Azure maintenance window, our automated systems detected outages in specific regions and took action to "failover" web traffic to other existing web servers. However, this process of failover takes 5-10 minutes to reroute traffic. Although Metascan Online remained up overall, there were short periods of downtime in specific regions including Europe and Asia while our systems failed over to other web servers which remained up around the world.

We apologize if you experienced any connectivity issues while trying to upload files to Metascan Online while our systems were failing over to our other hosting regions. In the future, we intend to bypass Windows Azure hosting for our web servers for any disruptive maintenance window announced ahead of time.

Sincerely,

Chris Kennedy

Vice President of Information Technology
