We are excited to announce the latest release of Metascan®, 3.9.2, which is now available for download on the OPSWAT Portal. With this release, we enhanced the Metascan Mail Agent to support any SMTP mail server, in addition to Microsoft Exchange. This will allow users who use other mail systems to leverage the power of Metascan to scan all emails for threats.
Users who already utilize mail security programs will be happy to know that they can now have an extra layer of security by incorporating Metascan's technology onto a separate server, in addition to their other mail security programs. When using the new Metascan Mail Agent, all email can be forwarded by existing security solutions (like Ironport or Barracuda) to Metascan's server for analysis. By utilizing Metascan, organizations will be able to increase their ability to detect threats and limit device infections by benefiting from Metascan's leading antivirus scanning engines. The added support for Metascan's Mail Agent, its ability to be on a separate appliance, and its advanced multi-scanning engine, makes Metascan both a versatile and effective addition to your organization's security structure.
In addition to the enhanced Mail Agent, we have also made the following enhancements:
- Upgraded the Linux version of the MetaDefender Endpoint included with Metascan
- Upgraded the OESIS component used by Metascan to OESIS V4
All customers with active Metascan licenses can download and install the latest version using their current license. We encourage all current customers to upgrade to the latest version as soon as they are able. As a reminder, if you are upgrading from Metascan 3.9.0 or later configuration can be exported from your current version and imported into Metascan 3.9.2.
