Gears Remediation Page Customization

This year has gone by quickly here at OPSWAT, probably because we've been working so hard delivering new features for Gears. While the year is almost over, we're not done yet! We've got a few exciting features coming out in December, and one of them is available now.

Since introducing the remediation page feature a few months ago, the number one question we've received is "Can I customize it?" Now you can! Starting today, Gears account admins can customize:

  • Page title
  • Images, icons, favicon
  • Logo alignment
  • Color scheme
  • Hyperlink style
  • Action button

The customization process is quick and intuitive. We've created a WYSIWYG editor right inside Gears. The easiest way to understand how it works is to log in and try it out. There's a new Rebranding entry in the Configure section of the menu. Soon all of the Gears rebranding features will be moved here, but for now it leads directly to the remediation page rebranding section.

The top half of the page is where you can edit the page title, favicon, setup an action button, change colors, hyperlink styles or upload an entire image set:

Rebranding

Scrolling down to the lower section will reveal a template remediation page. Any changes made in the upper section are reflected here in real-time. Clicking on one of the images in this lower section will provide a dialog to upload individual images. This can be used in combination or instead of the option to upload an entire image set.

Gears Logo

A new addition to the remediation page is the action button. This lets Gears admins provide a convenient link for their users to email the admin or go to a URL.

While this page gives a live preview, you can also click on the link for sample remediation page to automatically load a real remediation page from one of the devices on your account.

In a few weeks we'll be adding the ability to customize any of the text, as well as insert hyperlinks.

Trust.OPSWAT.com updates

If you're already subscribed to receive notifications from Trust.OPSWAT.com, then you've noticed that we have been making posts about scheduled maintenance and upcoming changes to Gears. We encourage you to check it out and signup to receive email or text notifications. Notices are infrequent and won't clog up your inbox.

Additionally, we just configured the SSL version of the page. If you aren't using SSL wherever possible, you could be putting yourself at risk. Check out three reasons to stop using HTTP from last month's blog.

Additional Product Support

As usual, the OESIS team has been busy adding support for new applications. In the last few weeks, they've added detection and management functions for 14 anti-malware products, 7 antiphishing products, 6 personal firewalls, 4 VPN clients, and over 70 others.

Much like antivirus signatures, OESIS signatures are continuously updated, and Gears automatically integrates these signatures as soon as they are released. This provides Gears customers with the most up-to-date detection and management capabilities available.

Upcoming Webinar

We're excited about our new partnership with ForeScout, and the interoperability between CounterACT and Gears. Join us for a webinar on December 16th at 9am PST to learn about how using these two solutions together can power advanced compliance enforcement for healthcare organizations!
