Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit 2018

Key members of the OPSWAT team recently joined 3400+ attendees, including leading CISOs, and top security and risk management professionals at the always illuminating Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit 2018 in National Harbor, MD. This summit provided the latest information about new threats and emerging technologies by leveraging the expertise of 60+ Gartner analysts, offering 120+ research-driven sessions, and hosting 200+ company exhibits, including the OPSWAT booth.

As usual, the summit featured a variety of security focused presentations and tutorials. For example, a tutorial on Malware Protection described a progression of attack maturity levels and required malware protection capabilities. Interestingly, as attack sophistication increases, organizations need to deploy multiple anti-virus engines (multi-scanning), add sandboxes, and deploy more advanced protection such as Content Disarm and Reconstruct (CDR). Another session, this one on technologies to protect against the Internet “cesspool”, described browser isolation and how to safely download required content (once again, multi-scanning and CDR are effective here).

For OPSWAT, this event was a great opportunity to raise awareness about MetaDefender and our brand, meet with customers, interact with peers, run product demos, and hear first-hand about the challenges organizations are facing in today’s always-changing threat environment.

Conference attendees also benefited by:

  • Putting all of the many security point solutions in a bigger context, gaining insight into how to prioritize their investment in these solutions based on the risk profile of their organization
  • Posing tough questions and hearing the latest research and recommendations
  • Exploring the newest technologies changing today’s security and risk landscapes

The bottom line: Meaningful networking, how-to guidance, real-world solutions.

And, as a good community steward, OPSWAT made a donation to The Wounded Warrior Project for every badge scanned at its booth.
