OPSWAT recently attended Smart Banking 2022 in Hanoi, Vietnam, where our team and attendees discussed how cybersecurity is affecting the banking industry's digital transformation and how OPSWAT is protecting them in this era of digital transformation.
According to Smart Banking, in early 2022, the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam issued Directive 02/CT-NHNN on promoting digital transformation and ensuring information security in banking. Subsequently, it is required that units of the State Bank, financial institutions, foreign bank branches, and intermediary payment services actively and effectively implement the tasks and solutions stated in Decision 810/QD-NHNN 2021 that states “Plan on digital transformation of banking sector by 2025, with the orientation towards 2030.”

To help ensure security within the banking industry, the OPSWAT team demonstrated a few of our solutions, including Application Security with MetaDefender Core, and MetaDefender Email Security, and how to scan portable media with our MetaDefender Kiosk to prevent threats from transferring across critical environments.

Protect Applications from Advanced Threats
OPSWAT Application Security solutions detect malicious payloads, exploitable vulnerabilities, and hidden sensitive information in an easy-to-deploy, use, and monitor platform. Attendees were most interested in OPSWAT’s best-in-class technologies, including Multiscanning to increase detection of known threats and provide the earliest protection against malware outbreaks, Proactive Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to identify sensitive data in files before it enters or leaves the banking system, and Deep Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) to protect against known and unknown threats, zero-day attacks, advanced persistent threats (APT), and sophisticated evasive malware.

Reduce Enterprise Email Security Risks
Attendees were also interested in our MetaDefender Email Security Solution since many financial institutions use internal email systems. Through OPSWAT’s solution, users can benefit from:
- Protection from social engineering attacks
- Increased effectiveness of malware detection
- Protection of business productivity files by removing document-based threats from attachments
- Prevention of data loss before it enters or leaves the banking system via an email system

Mitigate Portable Media Threats
While the banking industry and its customers may not use USBs every day, they still pose a significant risk if brought into their environments for file transfers, audits, or more. OPSWAT’s MetaDefender Kiosk acts as a digital security guard and inspects all types of portable media for malware, vulnerabilities, and sensitive data.
With OPSWAT customers present in 50+ countries and employees located in 20+ countries around the globe, OPSWAT protects critical infrastructure from anywhere and provides effective IT and OT security solutions to thousands of organizations worldwide.
