OPSWAT recently joined security experts and researchers from both the public and private sectors at the 9th Cyber and information Security Research Conference at ORNL in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. At the conference, Tony Berning, Senior Product Manager at OPSWAT, gave a talk on Securing Critical Infrastructure, using multiple anti-malware engines and other methods, to an audience of academic researchers, operators of power plants and other workers in critical infrastructure interested in improving security, especially in regard to portable media.

Tony's presentation covered topics related to balancing security requirements and business needs within organizations, focusing on factors that shape portable media security policies such as regulatory bodies, industry working groups, and internal security groups. In addition to outlining common security architectures, Tony introduced the basics of multi-scanning and why using multiple anti-malware engines to scan files is beneficial for organizations. He provided guidance on how organizations can define acceptable media types and choose supplements to a multi-scanning solution.
