MetaDefender Storage Security offers a robust layer of protection for on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-native storage environments. It integrates seamlessly with leading storage and collaboration solutions like OneDrive, Box, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, Cloudian, Dell EMC, and any S3 or SMB-compatible storage.
MetaDefender Storage Security leverages multiple OPSWAT technologies like Deep CDR™, MetaScan™ Multiscanning, File-based Vulnerability Assessment and Proactive DLP™ to protect stored files, documents, and images from zero-day attacks, breaches, downtime, and compliance violations.
SharePoint On-prem Integration
Microsoft announced that they will stop supporting SharePoint on-premises servers 2016 and 2019 by July 2026.
End-of-life doesn't mean that SharePoint on-premises stops working when it reaches a specific timeline, but it does pose various risks to your business operations and continuity because:
- Your system will no longer receive essential security patches, making your data easier to be targets for hackers. Cybercriminals actively exploit vulnerabilities in outdated software, increasing the potential of data breaches.
- Any system issues or malfunctions will remain unresolved, resulting critical processes to slow down or even fail, impacting your business productivity.
- Microsoft will stop offering paid support for troubleshooting and technical help, forcing your IT team to manage problems independently. Q&A forum is still available, but it will be very limited.
- Unsupported applications experience more issues; your business may need to spend more time and resources to manage and maintain your hardware and infrastructure to ensure system stability and data integrity.
For a long time, OPSWAT has been continuously improving to keep SharePoint Online environments safe and protected from file-borne malware and cyberattacks. To help with this transition, MetaDefender Storage Security will offer support not only for SharePoint Online but also for SharePoint On-prem storage.
MetaDefender Storage Security enables flexible SharePoint On-prem storage management. Users can easily add, edit, or remove storage units from MetaDefender Storage Security. Once configured, stored files within these units can be subjected to comprehensive scanning and remediation processes.
Note: This feature is only available for Windows Deployments for now.
Support for Larger OpenID Tokens
MetaDefender Storage Security can now handle larger OpenID access tokens from ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services) servers. Token lengths can now exceed 4KB, ensuring compatibility with complex security systems and improving secure access for large-scale enterprise environments.
Enhanced Storage Units API
Our Storage Units API has been upgraded to allow users to move their storage units to different groups after creation. Users can easily optimize the storage structure as needed without recreating them, offering greater flexibility and simplification for management and administration.
Kafka Integration as External Logger
Kafka is a distributed, highly scalable, elastic, fault-tolerant, and secure streaming platform. Kafka can be deployed on bare-metal hardware, virtual machines, and containers, and on-premises as well as in the cloud.
Besides Syslog UDP, MetaDefender Storage Security now also integrates with Kafka for external logging, making it easier to track and audit security events and system activities. By capturing and analyzing these logs, security teams can gain valuable insights into potential threats, identify unusual behavior, and respond promptly to incidents.
Other Enhancements
Offline MongoDB upgrades
The offline package now includes Docker binaries and a dedicated package for seamless offline MongoDB upgrades.
JSON Formatting for Console Logs
MetaDefender Storage Security Cloud now supports JSON formatting for console logs, enabling easier integration with log management tools like Corallogix.
Seamless Sanitized File Retrieval
MetaDefender Storage Security Cloud now seamlessly handles sanitized file retrieval from MetaDefender Cloud scan pools.
