Product Overview
OPSWAT MetaDefender Email Security ensures the security and continuity of email communications for business and critical infrastructure by reducing the cybersecurity risk of email and eliminating potential human error. By applying OPSWAT's technologies – such as advanced threat protection, zero-day prevention, proactive DLP, as well as using the best-of-breed anti-spam and anti-phishing engines – our solution fills security gaps and provides advanced email protection in addition to basic email security. The current release includes new capabilities and improvements to simplify the management of IT security operations and increase efficiency.
Release Highlights
This release offers enhanced email processing, provides a more efficient management interface for operators, further increases the efficiency of detection, and supports the protection of PII (Personal Identifiable Information) more strongly.
New Features
- Redesigned GUI & Dashboard
MetaDefender Email Security has a brand new graphical user interface and a more informative dashboard.
The whole user interface has been completely redesigned. The dashboard has been made more responsive and informative to accelerate the security team. It can load data much faster than before, and statistics become much more granular, so admins can get data broken down to the minute to better support the incident response process. As before, all widgets are fully customizable to bring those to the forefront that matter most to administrators, at the same time brand new visual graphic elements - including new icons, new look and feel, new graphs, and new colors - have been implemented.

In addition, new reports such as the mitigation summary and the risk summary have been introduced.
Introducing the brand new Mitigation and Risk summary widget:

- Mitigation Summary: This graph summarises in a single chart all the actions we have taken to mitigate risk.
- Risk Summary: an attention-grabbing widget showing the number of emails that are considered potentially harmful, but delivered according to the operator's settings.
Along with the dashboard updates security rules, server profiles, and settings have been modified to a greater extent. We have restructured the settings menus, resulting in more intuitive and user-friendly menus with menu items that are easy to navigate.
- PGP encrypted attachments
The PGP encryption is used to end-to-end encrypt emails. Files with OpenPGP symmetric encryption are quite difficult to read and scan, so most vendors cannot handle them, but simply block them.
As an advanced e-mail security solution, MetaDefender Email Security will be able to scan attachments with OpenPGP symmetric encryption, thus reducing the unrestricted use of unknown content. In the future, a password will be required from the user to decrypt OpenPGP symmetric encryption attachments so the file can be rescanned using OPSWAT's advanced technologies, ensuring secure email delivery.

- Redaction in email headers
Sensitive data mitigation capabilities have been further enhanced as it is now also supported in email headers displayed by email clients, providing protection against accidental leaks of PII data and allowing companies to more effectively comply with increasingly stringent regulations.
The supported headers are:
1. From (sender),
2. To (recipient(s)),
3. Cc (carbon copy recipient(s)),
4. Bcc (blind carbon copy recipient(s)),
5. Subject.

- Encrypt quarantine downloads
There are certain cases where the administrator is asked to download a quarantined - original - email for further investigation. These original files (which may contain malicious content, PII breaches, or sanitized files) can be downloaded in a compressed format from the quarantine database by the administrator. From now on, these compressed quarantine files must be password protected to give companies an extra layer of protection. The goal is to keep these potentially infectious items out of careless hands, protecting the company from accidental malware outbreaks or data leaks.

Further Enhancements
- MetaDefender Email Security is now much more descriptive in the logs about MetaDefender Core webhook callbacks.
- To improve the user experience we have further developed the disclaimer functionality.
- And email body Deep CDR-conversion became even more secure from now.
