MetaDefender Drive™ v4.4.2 Release

Introducing In-Session Scanning for Device Inspection without Operational Interruption or Downtime

Critical infrastructure and OT (operational technology) environments cannot afford downtime. Yet security teams need visibility into running systems to identify threats that may already exist in memory, disks, or boot sectors.

MetaDefender Drive v4.4.2 release that expands scanning capabilities beyond pre-boot scanning, giving greater flexibility to inspect devices without restarting or installing additional software.

Introducing In-Session Scanning for Uninterrupted Device Inspection

In-Session Scanning enables MetaDefender Drive operators to inspect a device while the operating system is running. This feature doesn’t require software installation, a system restart, or forced downtime, enabling deep inspection in critical environments where downtime is unacceptable.

With this capability, the Security team can:

  • Run processes and libraries in memory
  • Local disks and boot sectors
  • Select files or folders based on operational needs

Advanced Threat Detection with Multiscanning

In-Session Scanning leverages OPSWAT’s Metascan™ Multiscanning technology with up to 3 anti-malware engines, increasing detection rates to up to 94% while maintaining critical system uptime. The anti-malware engines are:

  • ESET
  • Bitdefender
  • Predictive Alin AI

How In-Session Scanning Works

1. Connect to the Host Device

Insert a MetaDefender Drive into the target device while the operating system is running.

2. Scan During Live Operations

Performs in-session scanning across system memory and local storage using three anti-malware engines, to identify threats without interrupting active workflows.

3. View Reports

Once a scan is complete, the results clearly highlight detected threats and system risks, enabling fast and informed remediation decisions.

Scanning Without BitLocker Key Access

In-Session Scanning enables inspection even when BitLocker recovery keys are not accessible, helping security teams maintain visibility without changing existing encryption.

Designed for Operational Continuity

The introduction of In-Session Scanning offers a practical inspection option for environments where pre-boot scanning is not feasible. By combining live inspection with OPSWAT’s Metascan Multiscanning technology, organizations can maintain system availability while detecting threats without disrupting ongoing operations.
