We're excited to announce the release of MetaDefender Core v5.12.0, focusing on security, automation, and user control.
Critical System Alerts
MetaDefender Core v5.12.0 brings enhanced security by allowing users to configure email notifications for critical system alerts. These notifications ensure immediate action can be taken to secure your systems and maintain operational integrity.
Key alerts include:
- Pre-defined Threats Detected: Defines which scan results, threats, or incidents should trigger a notification. These can include infections, suspicious activities, or the presence of sensitive data.
- Failed-to-Update Engines: Notifies on “Download Failed”, “Permanently Failed”, “Temporary Failed”, and “Content Invalid” for engines, reducing vulnerabilities.
- Soon-to-Expire Licensing: Helps avoid service interruptions by facilitating timely license renewals.
- Quarantined Files: Alerts users about files that need review, assisting in managing false positives and potentially malicious files.
- Failed Scans: Monitors the scanning process, prompting rechecks of failed scans to maintain continuity.
These real-time notifications allow your security teams to respond promptly to potential threats and maintenance needs, ensuring a proactive defense posture.
CSV Upload Feature
In this release, we’ve introduced a new CSV upload feature for hash lists, significantly improving file management efficiency. Users can now upload CSV files to the "Skip by Hash" list including “Skip Engines”, “Allowlist” and “Blocklist”. It allows users to improve scanning efficiency by focusing resources on potentially harmful files instead of known safe entities.
Customizable Allowlist and Blocklist
Users now have even more control with expanded customization options for allowlists and blocklists. This granular control over network traffic ensures that security measures can be precisely tailored to the unique needs of your organization. Whether you want to allow or block specific files or network requests, this feature helps you better manage your security environment.
Password Storage Management
MetaDefender Core v5.12.0 introduces a new password storage feature for encrypted files. Users can define and manage lists of passwords used for file decryption, streamlining the process when handling encrypted or password-protected files.
Continued Integration with My OPSWAT
Seamless integration with My OPSWAT continues in this release, providing users with a suite of advanced features for smoother operations. Users can now directly configure “Post Actions”, “External Scanners”, “Webhook Authentication”, and “Health Check” from My OPSWAT.
Additional Enhancements
- Improved UI/UX for Modules: Refines the user interface for Modules to enhance usability and streamline workflows.
- SBOM (Software Bills of Materials) License Enforcement: By default, the MetaDefender Software Supply Chain product workflow rule now includes SBOM license enforcement, enhancing compliance and security.
With MetaDefender Core V5.12.0, we continue our commitment to delivering advanced security solutions that are robust, customizable, and automation driven. These new features and enhancements empower organizations to improve their threat response times, streamline operations, and maintain stronger overall security. Stay tuned for future updates as we work to keep MetaDefender Core at the forefront of security innovation.
