MetaDefender Core v5.10.0 has been released today as a major update adding several new features, various performance enhancements, and other important changes.

About MetaDefender Core

MetaDefender Core enables you to integrate advanced malware prevention and detection capabilities into your existing IT solutions and infrastructure for handling common attack vectors, securing web portals from malicious file upload attacks, augmenting cybersecurity products, and developing your own malware analysis systems.

What’s new in v5.10.0

This release includes several new capabilities and upgrades:

Integration with OPSWAT Central Management

OPSWAT Central Management is a centralized console that enables you to perform global operations, such as managing MetaDefender products and MetaDefender Endpoint, viewing managed anti-malware engines, managing virus definition and engine updates, and checking licensing status.

Powered by the latest OPSWAT Central Management version 8.0.0, MetaDefender Core v5.10.0 introduces new features including updating engine modules, accessing file processing history, and viewing scan results for each file.

This release also introduces a new MetaDefender Core dashboard design in OPSWAT Central Management.
This dashboard provides a real-time overview into:

Finally, we're thrilled to announce that users can now activate their licenses directly from OPSWAT Central Management without going to MetaDefender Platform

Configuration Options and Workflow Optimization

Other highlights of MetaDefender Core v5.10.0 include configuration options for scan timeout, per AV and per Global. This provides greater control over scan timing and resource allocation. Apart from that, the default workflow rule for “MetaDefender for Secure Storage” has been renamed to "MetaDefender Storage Security".

Split wait_time of Metascan engines from other_time, optimizing resource utilization.

Containerization now supports non-root use cases and avoids writing to the root filesystem.
