MetaDefender Cloud Rescan API Deprecation Notice

The MetaDefender Cloud Rescan API is being officially deprecated starting April 15th, 2021. Users are requested to stop using the rescan API as soon as possible.

What is the Rescan API?

MetaDefender Cloud stores files so that customers can request a refresh of the scan results, whether it is Multiscanning or Sandbox Analysis scan results.

There are currently multiple types of rescans available:

All of the above API calls will be deprecated starting April 15th, 2021.

Why is this API being deprecated?

MetaDefender Cloud is changing the way it stores files. Once the service decides that a scan result is final and less likely to change, the file will no longer be available for immediate access. Because of this design change, not every file will be accessible for rescans in the future.

What should I use instead?

We are working on a new API that allows users to request scheduled rescans. The new API will allow users to schedule multiple rescans of uploaded files at periodic intervals and get notified when the results change. An announcement will be made on our blog once the periodic rescan API is available.
