SAN DIEGO AND SAN FRANCISCO–May 22, 2007–ESET, the leader in proactive threat detection, and OPSWAT, a leading provider of endpoint security and integration technologies and data services, today announced a strategic technology alliance.

Under terms of an OEM agreement, OPSWAT will include ESET NOD32 Antivirus software as a built-in scan engine for the OPSWAT Metascan™ solution. ESET has also provided APIs for its security applications to OPSWAT to enable extensive support for ESET products in OPSWAT’s Endpoint Security Integration SDK (OESIS) framework, enabling NOD32 software to be easily integrated with leading Network Access Control solutions.

The collaboration of ESET and OPSWAT provides the software developer community with more powerful tools and resources to ensure the products they develop can adequately protect networks and enduser devices. OPSWAT technologies facilitate the integration and ongoing stable interoperability with security applications. ESET NOD32 software, distinguished for its superior proactive protection and performance, has set dozens of records for “in the wild†tests conducted by independent organizations such as Virus Bulletin and AV-Comparatives.org. “We’re pleased to include ESET as a new technology partner for both our Metascan and OESIS products,†said Benjamin Czarny CEO and Founder of OPSWAT, Inc. "The integration of NOD32 software in Metascan extends the breadth and depth of support of our multi-vendor scanning engine, and better enables the developer community to create highly secure products.†As enterprise security becomes increasingly layered and requires new levels of integration and cooperation between products, professional developers, solution providers and corporate development teams are requiring security solutions that can be centrally deployed, assessed and managed. OPSWAT facilitates this process and ensures each security solution it supports is fully optimized and always remains current with the latest updates.

“OPSWAT provides a tremendous service to the developer community and ESET is pleased partner with them to build NOD32 software into Metascan,†said Anton Zajac, CEO of ESET, LLC. “In addition, with NOD32 now being supported by the OESIS framework, our enterprise customers can benefit from enhanced management capabilities and interoperability with NAC technology.â€

High-performance, low-impact ESET NOD32 Antivirus software offers comprehensive enterprise-class protection in a product designed to automatically update behind-the-scenes without impacting other applications, so end users always have the most current protection available. ESET NOD32 Antivirus version 2.7 utilizes ThreatSense® technology, a sophisticated detection system based on advanced heuristics, to proactively identify previously unknown viruses, Trojans, spyware, rootkits and phishing attacks in real time. ThreatSense is built into NOD32’s single scanning engine to provide comprehensive protection so users do not need to rely on additional point solutions for spyware and adware protection.

Metascan is an advanced engine for launching antivirus applications, analyzing data streams in real time, and increasing the speed of file scanning. Metascan is ideal for technology vendors, systems integrators and in-house developers developing solutions designed to prevent harmful files from entering networks using pre-installed antivirus applications. Metascan currently features built-in antivirus scan engines from CA, ClamWin and Norman, plus support for dozens of other antivirus applications. The integration of ESET will be complete in June 2007.

OESIS is a complete software kit for developing products that detect, assess, manage and remediate multiple endpoint security applications. Using a simple object-oriented interface, OESIS provides a comprehensive API for controlling, managing, and checking the behavior of over 600 antivirus, anti-spyware, personal firewall, antiphishing, hard disk encryption, peripheral device protection, health agent and patch management client applications from 60 vendors. OESIS customers include leading SSL VPN and Network Access Control vendors such as Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, F5 Networks and many others.
