SSL Certificate Change for OPSWAT Update Server

The OPSWAT Updater Server (update.dl.opswat.com) provides the engine update packages for the MetaDefender platform. We keep the connection with the clients to this environment highly secure with the GoDaddy SSL Certificate.

However, we recently observed that some operating systems (e.g. Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Standard) don’t have a GoDaddy certificate in their Trusted Root CA by default anymore. This would necessitate MetaDefender Core to manually install the certificate for the engine packages to be downloaded.

As a more effective solution and to continue seamless engine updates from MetaDefender, we will replace the GoDaddy SSL Certificate in the Updater server to the more widely used Amazon SSL certificate. This change will go into effect on 5/31/2023.

PLEASE NOTE: This change does not affect the customer’s experience and no action is needed. For any questions or concerns please reach out to OPSWAT support.
