Your Time at OPSWAT

If you could describe OPSWAT in one word, what would it be and why?

At OPSWAT, I've seen the power of Synergy firsthand, as teams across product development, technical support, and sales come together to enhance cybersecurity solutions. This collaboration fosters innovation with colleagues sharing ideas and feedback that drive continuous product improvement. The open and supportive environment encourages teamwork and creative problem-solving, ensuring our solutions meet the evolving needs of partners and customers. By leveraging our collective strengths we push boundaries, embrace challenges, and deliver exceptional results, making a meaningful impact in the cybersecurity landscape.

How did you begin your career in the cybersecurity industry?

I began my career over 20 years ago with a BSC (Hons) in Computer Science, at a time when cybersecurity was still emerging as internetworking matured. At the beginning of my career, I held roles as a system administrator, integrator, and web developer, which helped me build a strong technical foundation. Later, working with distributors, I specialized in IT solutions like systems, networking, security, cloud computing, and data centers. This diverse experience deepened my understanding of cybersecurity’s growing importance fueling my passion and equipping me to make a meaningful impact in the field.

What do you like the most about OPSWAT?

What I love most about OPSWAT is the incredible people here. The team is filled with talented and passionate individuals dedicated to making a difference in cybersecurity. Our collaborative environment creates strong relationships, where colleagues support and share knowledge with one another. I appreciate the diverse backgrounds and perspectives that enrich our discussions and drive innovation. Working alongside motivated professionals committed to continuous learning is inspiring. The camaraderie we share not only makes our work enjoyable but also strengthens our ability to tackle challenges together, contributing to our overall success as a company.

What do you do to protect critical infrastructure?

To protect critical infrastructure, I will focus on key strategies that enhance security. First, I emphasize awareness and training for partners and stakeholders through workshops that address potential threats and best practices, fostering a more resilient security posture. I also collaborate with partners to implement OPSWAT solutions like MetaDefender Core, Kiosk, and secure file transfer, which are vital for safeguarding systems and data from cyber threats.

Open communication is crucial, and I facilitate dialogue between partners and our internal teams to proactively address issues and share insights on emerging threats. I encourage partners to adopt a proactive security approach by regularly reviewing their measures and staying updated on the latest cybersecurity trends. By leveraging OPSWAT’s advanced technologies, organizations can enhance their cybersecurity posture, protect sensitive data, and ensure the continuity of critical operations.

The You Outside of Work

Tell us a bit about your family.

I have a wonderful family that means the world to me. I'm blessed with two amazing kids, Breanne and Breyven, who are 12 and 10 years old and a beautiful wife who is incredibly supportive. Together they bring so much joy and balance to my life.

Spending quality time with them is a priority for me, whether it’s playing games, exploring new places, or simply enjoying quiet moments at home. They are my biggest source of inspiration and motivation, constantly encouraging me to give my best in everything I do.

What would your perfect weekend look like?

My perfect weekend often revolves around my son, Breyven's sailing training which keeps me busy. I spend most weekends learning how to rig up and fine tuning the boat, helping with launching and recovery—it’s become an engaging routine as a supportive parent. I also have a powerboat license and plan to take my sailing skills to the next level. Being involved in the sailing community has been both fun and a rewarding learning experience.

Outside of sailing, I enjoy relaxing with my family, sharing a nice meal, and perhaps winding down with a movie or games in the evening. It’s the mix of staying active on the water and enjoying quality time with my loved ones that makes the weekend feel complete.
