MetaDefender Kiosk™ continues to provide advanced peripheral and removable media protection with this release, bringing new features and enhancements. The new enhancements include import and export language translation, displaying power buttons in the taskbar, password entry timeout to prevent scan pauses, on screen Kiosk Identification, and more seamless integrations with YubiKey Smart Card & NFC.

What’s New in MetaDefender Kiosk v4.7.9

Import and Export Language Translation

MetaDefender Kiosk users can now import and export language packs. With this feature, administrators can import and export language configurations between different Kiosks. This capability is accessible through the MetaDefender Kiosk Management Console and My OPSWAT™ Central Management.

Password Entry Timeout During Scans

A password entry timeout can now be set by administrators to limit the time available for users to enter encrypted file passwords. If a user fails to enter the correct password to unlock an encrypted file within the preset time limit, access to this file will be blocked. This functionality eliminates the possibility of pausing scans due to a lack of user input.

On-Screen Kiosk Identification

MetaDefender Kiosk’s device name is now clearly displayed on the user interface to make it easier for operators to identify which MetaDefender Kiosk they are working on.

Power Options in Taskbar

Administrators can now configure the taskbar to display quick access buttons, including Exit Kiosk UI, Restart Device, and Power Off Device.

Seamless Integration with YubiKey Smart Card and NFC

With this release, MetaDefender Kiosk offers two new user authentication methods, NFC (PC/SC Mode) and YubiKey. Users can now log in to MetaDefender Kiosk by swiping NFC cards configured with Active Directory or YubiKey smart cards configured with a certificate. This capability allows organizations to strengthen their visitor access management strategies with broader authentication methods to enable only authorized personnel to access and scan removable media.

Expanded Support for Encrypted USB Drives

The support for encrypted USB drives has been expanded, and performance enhancements have been implemented to some of the supported drives, including DataLocker Sentry 5 FIPS, Sony XDCAM Drive, and Elecom MF-PUVT3.
