MetaDefender Kiosk™ continues to provide advanced protection against removable media threats at entry. The MetaDefender Kiosk 4.7.6 release brings enhanced peripheral and removable media protection workflow management with My OPSWAT Central Management™ integration, user experience improvements, better control and policy enforcement, performance enhancements, and more.
Enhanced Removable Media Detection
Users will now be notified when a newly inserted USB is detected via a pop-up. On the Media Detection screen, detected media will be automatically used. This significantly improves user experience, accelerates scans, and boosts reliability, making the system more efficient, flexible, and user-friendly.
Yara & Hash Policy Enforcement
With My OPSWAT™ API integration, MetaDefender Kiosk administrators can save time by ensuring that every Kiosk receives security policy updates and the latest threat intelligence, YARA rules, and file hashes via auto-sync. With this integration, MetaDefender Kiosk administrators no longer need to configure each device individually with every security policy update.
Improved Data Traceability Across OPSWAT Solutions
MetaDefender Kiosk now includes metadata, such as the hostname and Kiosk ID, with all files sent to MetaDefender Core™ for processing. The file metadata becomes accessible from My OPSWAT Central Management along with the synced data. This enhancement helps administrators identify which MetaDefender Kiosk performed a specific scan and which user submitted a specific file, improving traceability and context while managing security operations.
Eliminating Data Loss with Connection Outage
In previous versions, if the connection with My OPSWAT Central Management was interrupted during a scan, reports would not be automatically resynced after restoring the connection, leading to incomplete data in the synced scan reports. As a result, the real-time scanning report syncing for MetaDefender Kiosks enrolled in My OPSWAT Central Management was considered a limitation.
With this new release, MetaDefender Kiosk automatically resyncs any unsent scanning report data as soon as the connection is restored. This improvement also ensures that when a MetaDefender Kiosk instance is newly enrolled to My OPSWAT Central Management, all the previously saved local scan data is sent.
Streamlined MetaDefender Kiosk Management Console Workflows
A new Scanning Configurations tab centralizes all the commonly used scan settings, which helps simplify first-time setup. Expanded support for more workflows has also been implemented, enabling administrators to directly configure common MetaDefender Core settings from the MetaDefender Kiosk Management Console.
This approach also applies to My OPSWAT Central Management (CM8/CM10), enabling wider support and more flexibility in managing critical infrastructure and OT security.
Integrated Report with MetaDefender Drive
MetaDefender Kiosk now offers direct, seamless integration with MetaDefender Drive. When a user connects a MetaDefender Drive to MetaDefender Kiosk, the device automatically sends all stored scan reports directly to the enrolled My OPSWAT Central Management server. This automation eliminates the need for a separate SDK installation and configuration.
Streamlined Login Process
MetaDefender Kiosk administrators can now enable and disable domain selection when integrating MetaDefender Kiosk with an Active Directory server. If enabled, the MetaDefender Kiosk login screen will display a dedicated domain selection field. This enhancement simplifies the login process for users in multi-domain Active Directory environments, making it straightforward to select the correct domain.
Customizable Icon Display Options
MetaDefender Kiosk now offers flexible icon display options for a customized, efficient user interface. Administrators can hide icons or show them in the menu bar. These configurations are multi-language supported, persisting through upgrades, backup/restore capable, and fully configurable via My OPSWAT Central Management [CM7/8/10].
Kiosk Readiness At-A-Glance
MetaDefender Kiosk UI now features new visual engine status indicators. For instance, a warning icon will be displayed to indicate when a scanning engine has issues. This visual enhancement provides instant insight into engine health, helping users and administrators quickly identify and address problems.
User Answer Validation
To enable smoother Active Directory logins and capture accurate user input, MetaDefender Kiosk administrators can now define a precise input format for each field by selecting from Anything, Number, Email, or Regex input formats. This feature helps users determine which username formats are available before entering data.
Hardware Information on About Page
The About page now includes more information about the hardware specifications. This improvement aims to simplify troubleshooting and to help OPSWAT provide a better support experience.
Faster CD/DVD Scanning Performance
Previously, the time-consuming CD/DVD scans could last for hours. In this release, the scanning performance of CD/DVD has been significantly enhanced to deliver a smoother and faster user experience.
