The MetaDefender ICAP Server team continues to uphold our commitment to improving user experience and file security for network traffic. With our latest release, version 5.5.1, we have prioritized streamlined work processes and enhanced security measures, including a new proxy configuration user interface (UI), password length enforcement, and other significant updates.

Release Highlights

User Interface Update: Proxy Configuration Addition

For granular-level usability, we have introduced a new section in the UI: proxy configuration. This addition ensures a consistent experience when deploying both MetaDefender Core and MetaDefender ICAP Server, streamlining the process for IT administrators. Upgrade to version 5.5.1

Under Settings > Network > Proxy, customers have the option to configure their proxy servers using predefined environment variables or customize the settings according to their specific needs.

Benefits of native proxy configuration:

Consistency with MetaDefender Core

This update brings alignment between MetaDefender Core and MetaDefender ICAP Server proxy configuration, offering an unified user experience.

Independence from System Proxy Configuration

With this update, customers of MetaDefender ICAP Server can eliminate their reliance on the system proxy settings, ensuring greater flexibility and more control over configurations.

Enhanced Flexibility for Connection Settings

IT administrators can now define separate proxy settings for different functionalities that require both inbound and outbound connections. This feature ensures optimized connection and efficiency when integrating MetaDefender ICAP Server with a network security device.

Upgrade Encryption of Database

MetaDefender ICAP Server now encrypts sensitive user data within its Postgres database using the Advanced Encryption Standard 256 (AES256), strengthening the security of our users’ data.

Sensitive data encrypted by MetaDefender ICAP Server includes SSO connection information, LDAP/AD credentials, user credentials, proxy configurations, and email server credentials.

Enforce Minimum Password Length

Our latest update introduces enforced minimum password lengths, allowing IT administrators to set passwords up to 30 characters. This change supports higher security password policies, making it more difficult for unauthorized users to gain access
