The current release includes new capabilities to simplify IT security operations management.
Release Highlights
This release offers enhanced email processing, supports user awareness with digitally signed email notification emails, enables access to optional MetaDefender Cloud scanning resources, and introduces SSO integration to provide a seamless log-in experience for all users.
New Features
- MetaDefender Cloud Scanning Option
Email Gateway Security administrators are now able to extend their scanning options to the cloud if needed in order to gain higher processing performance and continuity, hence expanding existing capabilities comprising multiple on-premises servers to the OPSWAT cloud.
Existing Email Gateway Security administrators are allowed to add more than one server to gain higher processing performance if needed.
This new feature provides the option to connect to MetaDefender Cloud for processing. Depending on the subscription, MetaDefender Cloud could apply more anti-malware engines (up to 35) for advanced scanning of certain groups of emails to derive increased levels of malware detection.
Additionally, administrators have the option to configure MetaDefender Email Security to apply MetaDefender Cloud as a fail-over processing unit for email scanning should all local MetaDefender Core engines become unavailable.

- Digital Signature for Notification Emails
To maintain user-awareness through continuous learning principles, all system-generated notifications, alerts and reports can be digitally signed by the MetaDefender Email Security server to provide added levels of trust. Furthermore, all communications from Email Gateway Security directed towards Users and/or Admins will be centralized to one email address.
The centralized email address and enhanced security, with digitally-certified notification emails, reinforces the OPSWAT philosophy of TRUST NO FILE across all messages.
- Single Sign-On (SSO) Integration
In addition to standard authentication, OPSWAT MetaDefender Email Security allows users to log in by using SSO which introduces significant user convenience and security benefits.
Organizations can expand their OpenID or SAML user authentication platforms to MetaDefender Email Security. When a single sign-on user directory is enabled, the login page will display the Sign In with SSO link which redirects to the identity provider’s login page. To simplify managing permissions, user roles can be assigned and mapped to better comply with policies.

- Accelerated Scanning Process
To enhance the user experience we have further optimized the scanning process of email elements in order to make the email flow more expeditious by minimizing delays when extreme loads place demands on incoming email flow. In such cases, individual emails will experience significantly lower delays than in previous releases.
