OPSWAT is excited to announce the release of MetaDefender Drive v4.1.2. This release comes with performance, user experience, and localization enhancements, offering a better scanning experience.
What’s New in MetaDefender Drive v4.1.2?
Better Visibility into the Engine Initialization Process
MetaDefender Drive’s Archive and FileType engines are essential to ensure efficient and accurate scanning and file analysis. In the v4.1.2 release, the Archive and FileType engines have been added to the Engines interface to increase users’ visibility into the engine initialization process.
Full Storage Alert
The increase in the locally stored scan reports results in slowing down both scans and report management. Users will now be alerted when the number of the locally stored reports exceeds 100 or the Drive storage is almost full.
Users can efficiently delete the stored reports based on the file format or the OPSWAT Central Management sync status from Settings → Preferences.
Enhanced User Experience
More accurate scan time estimates: The calculation of the estimated scan time has been improved to display more accurate time, and the freezing issue of the elapsed time progress bar has been resolved.
Auto Actions option: An option to skip the manual network configuration prompt before scans has been added under Settings → Preferences → Auto Actions.
Multilingual Support in 12 Languages
This release comes with enhanced localization support, covering key interface elements in the following 12 languages: English, Dutch, German, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, Arabic, Hebrew, and Polish.
Scan Performance Optimization
During the scanning process, a decrease in available disk space can impact performance. Within the series of performance optimizations included in this release, an option to skip non-essential logs has been added to MetaDefender Drive’s settings.
For a smooth scanning experience, it is recommended to set the Log Level settings to Optimized. For troubleshooting purposes, keeping the Log Level settings as the default option is essential to include more system information and insights. You can learn more about troubleshooting here.
The maximum file size limit is now optimized for balanced performance and better system resource management. Users can now set a limit within a pre-defined range, ensuring faster scans while minimizing the possibility of scan failures due to disk space overuse.
Critical Issue Fixes
- Resolved freezing elapsed time tracker.
- Resolved MAC address not being recognized on some devices.
MetaDefender Drive Toolkit v 3.5.2
Alongside the MetaDefender Drive v4.1.2 release, the MetaDefender Drive Toolkit v3.5.2 release comes with performance enhancements and a new key addition. A safe removal prompt that follows clicking the safe ejection button enables users to determine if MetaDefender Drive has been safely ejected. This feature aims to reduce the risk of unintentionally corrupting MetaDefender Drive by physically removing it from the target device before it has been safely ejected from the system.
