MetaDefender for Secure Access Overview
Enforcing network security requires an assurance that a client machine is free from malevolent active processes prior to access. MetaDefender™ for Secure Access (MD4SA) is a lightweight (~100kb) memory scanning tool that is ideal for quickly scanning endpoints prior to a network, web or server login. You can download a beta of the MD4SA demo scanning client here. Or a beta of the persistent scanning client here.
Why MD4SA?
- No single antivirus product can detect all threats--MD4SA adds up to eight scanning engines to your product
- Able to perform an extremely fast memory check on endpoints accessing a network
- Added security on any platform
- Scanning the complete file system prior to a logon using the pre-installed anti-malware solution is too slow
- Endpoints may not have an antimalware solution installed

MD4SA quickly hashes the memory of the endpoint and scans it using eight remotely installed antivirus engines from AVG, CA, ClamWin, ESET, Norman, Quick Heal, Sunbelt and VirusBuster. MD4SA does not replace an active antivirus application on an endpoint system, but network security is enhanced by using multi-scanning technology to ensure that active processes are checked before admittance is granted through the SSL VPN or NAC gateway.
