File Security for Chrome is now open source

We are excited to announce that our File Security for Chrome browser extension is now open source!

OPSWAT File Security for Chrome is a browser extension designed to enhance the security of browser users by verifying files before being downloaded. The browser extension connects to MetaDefender Cloud API and works as an automated file security tool, keeping users safe from file based infections. The extension is a free tool provided by OPSWAT, currently used by over 8,000 users and it's popularity continues to grow.

At OPSWAT we believe that open source software has an important role in the progress of technology and is essential for collaborating, especially in the field of cybersecurity. As of today, the browser extension is open source, anybody can clone, build, run, and test the code from the repository on GitHub:

We plan on extending the extension in the future to add some cool functionalities like Safe URL Redirect and support for MetaDefender Core API.  We also plan on making the extension available for multiple browsers.

We can't wait to work with you on improving and enhancing OPSWAT File Security for Chrome! Stay tuned for more open source announcements to come in the near future by subscribing to our blog updates!
