OPSWAT GEARS
Overview
OPSWAT GEARS (Global Endpoint Application Recognition and Security) is a development toolkit for building simple, white-labeled network management and monitoring cloud solutions. Integrate GEARS to your solution to help your users prevent security compromises by quickly identifying unpatched computers. GEARS enables identification of machines in the network that aren't keeping up with operating system patches, or that don’t have up-to-date antivirus, antispyware, and personal firewall software.
Use GEARS to create a white-labeled product that sends alerts when any computer in the network poses a security risk, including:
- Missing critical security patches
- Antivirus software is inoperable or out of date
- Desktop firewall is turned off
- Antispyware software is not current
The GEARS management interface can be hosted in the cloud or on your network device to monitor computers running Mac, Windows or Linux.

ADTRAN's BlueSocket wireless access points integrate GEARS technology to their BlueProtect software to enable endpoint scanning and compliance management. By adding this software to their access point, customers are able to designate and enforce rules for endpoints joining the network. D-Link uses OPSWAT GEARS to enable cloud-based network management for DES/DGS-1210 Series Web Smart Switches. GEARS is integrated to D-Link Insight to track all devices connected to the smart switch and to monitor their compliance with policies for operating system patch level, firewall, antivirus and antispyware.
