A MetaDefender Software Supply Chain license contains the following fields:

| Deployment ID | A uniquely generated value that identifies your deployment. |
| Product ID | A unique product identifier |
| Expiration Date | The date until your license is valid |
| Name | The name of the license |
| Activation Key* | The key with which the license is activated (online license activation only) |
| Max Developers | The maximium of users which can be activate on this license |
A license can be activated online, based on a license key, or offline using a file previously generated on My OPSWAT. These options can be found under the 'Settings' menu, in the 'License' tab entry.
Online License Activation
For online activation, the license key is validated against OPSWAT’s activation server. After a valid key is provided, MetaDefender Software Supply Chain will attempt to activate the license. Upon successful activation, the page will display the license details as outlined in the table above.
Offline License Activation
For offline activation, the license is generated outside the product environment. To activate your license, you will need to:
- Copy the Deployment ID from the MDSSC instance, Offline License Activation section.
- Navigate to the My OPSWAT portal -> License Management -> Activate License
- Generate a license file, using the Deployment ID and the Activation Key.
- Once the file is downloaded, upload it to MetaDefender Software Supply Chain to complete the activation process.
After a successful upload, the page will display the relevant license details based on the uploaded license file.
