How to completely uninstall MetaDefender ICAP?

Check Your Version:

This article applies to all MetaDefender ICAP releases deployed on Windows and Linux systems.

Windows

  1. Uninstall the software application from Apps & Features or from the Control Panel

  2. Remove leftover Registry Keys [if any exist]

    1. Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OPSWAT\ICAP Server

    2. Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\OPSWAT\Metadefender ICAP Server

  3. Remove File Explorer Folders [if any exist]

    1. C:\Program Files\OPSWAT\Metadefender ICAP Server

    2. C:\ProgramData\OPSWAT\MetaDefender ICAP

Linux

  1. Uninstall the ICAP software

Redhat / CentOS (Rpm) Based systems:

Run in terminal

sudo yum remove mdicapsrv

Debian / Ubuntu (deb) Based systems:

Run in terminal to uninstall and remove configuration files:

sudo dpkg --purge mdicapsrv

  1. Ensure all directories containing mdicapsrv are removed

  • Find directories

sudo find / -name "mdicapsrv*" 2>/dev/null

  • Remove the list above

sudo rm -rf <directory name> Example: sudo rm -rf /var/lib/mdicapsrv /etc/mdicapsrv /usr/share/mdicapsrv /var/tmp/mdicapsrv
