What are the Email Gateway Security instance upgrade steps?
This article only applies to MetaDefender Email Gateway Security up to and including version 5.7.6.
In order to perform a MetaDefender Email Gateway Security upgrade the following steps should be observed:
Before taking any steps, please make sure that you take a back-up of the machine in the form of a VM snapshot whenever possible.

Navigate to our product resource portal and download the latest EGS installer. https://my.opswat.com/home/metadefender-email-gateway-security
- Move the downloaded installer to the EGS machine.
- Simply Run the installer and go through the necessary steps as illustrated below
- One the installation process is finished you should be able to observe the new EGS version in the product console.
