Why do I receive license notification email spam from MFT?

MFT affected version 3.7.4

Issue: Expiration notification emails are repeatedly sent, spamming the admin user's mailbox.

Explanation: When an expiration notification is sent to multiple admins, the process fails if one of the recipients has multiple email records with the same ID in the database. This failure prevents the system from updating the "last sent" date, causing it to resend the email repeatedly.

Root Cause: Emails are not intended to be sent to disabled admin users. However, a logic error caused the system to query email addresses without a proper filter when a disabled admin was included. This led to the retrieval of multiple email records instead of one, triggering an exception. Although some emails were sent, the process failed overall, resulting in continuous retries.

Solution: Upgrade to version 3.8.0 or later, which includes a fix specifically addressing this issue.

Workaround:

  1. Locate the disabled local admin user.
  2. Enable the user.
  3. Remove the user from the system.

This action will stop the loop of sending repeated expiration notification emails.
