What Happens After the Discontinuation of RocketCyber Support for Windows and Linux?

OPSWAT remains committed to providing the most comprehensive and cutting-edge threat detection capabilities within MetaDefender Core. We continuously evaluate and optimize our engine portfolio in Metascan to ensure optimal coverage and performance for our valued users.

Background

RocketCyber has officially announced the End-of-Life (EOL) for the anti-malware engine currently integrated into OPSWAT MetaDefender Core. As a result of this vendor-driven discontinuation, OPSWAT will be removing the RocketCyber engine from all applicable MetaDefender Core and cloud packages and replacing it with an alternative engine to maintain uninterrupted multiscanning coverage.

This change is being made to ensure that our customers continue to benefit from fully supported, actively maintained, and high-performing anti-malware engines within the Metascan portfolio.

What is Changing?

MetaDefender Core:

  • Linux and Windows Max Package: No immediate replacement is available at this time

Action Required

Choice of Engine Replacement:

  • If you are using one of the packages mentioned above, no action is required on your part. The RocketCyber engine will be automatically removed on August 1, 2026.
  • If you have RocketCyber as a custom engine in your Windows or Linux bundle, please contact your OPSWAT sales representative or our dedicated Support team for personalized guidance and assistance. You may choose any engine from the custom engine list to replace RocketCyber in your custom Windows or Linux engine package.

Activating new license

  • Online deployments: To receive the latest updates regarding this change, please reactivate your Metadefender Core license by navigating to 'Settings' > 'License', then select 'Deactivate' followed by 'Activate'.
  • Offline deployments: To receive the latest update regarding this change, please contact your OPSWAT sales representative or our dedicated Support team to receive the new license key and activate the license.

What is the Timeline?

Effective August 1, 2026, OPSWAT will cease offering the RocketCyber anti-malware engine for both Windows and Linux platforms and will no longer include it in our bundles. Before this date, please contact your sales representative or OPSWAT Support to select your replacement engine.
