How to Create Support Package?

To ensure the best help from OPSWAT support, you can create a support package from the user interface in MetaDefender Managed File Transfer. A support package contains essential information regarding the operating system and OPSWAT software found on the machine.

Generating the package via Command Line Interface (CLI)

Run script found under the installation directory of the product, default is C:\Program Files\OPSWAT\MetaDefender Managed File Transfer\Services\GenerateSupportFiles.exe

Optionally use the -includeDbDump argument to include a database dump. Note that including a database dump can significantly augment the size of the resulting archive.

As the script processes the necessary information, the script generates the support package output.

The generated package will be stored in the temporary folder for the current user.

Generating the package through User Interface (UI)

Administrator privilege is required.

1.From the web user interface, go to the User info menu page on the top right

  1. Click on Contact Support option
  2. Choose a password if you wish to password protect the generated archive
  3. Check Include database dump if you wish to include a dump of the database (Note: including a database dump can considerably increase the size of the generated archive)
  4. Click Export packages in order to download the package

Content of the support package

The support package contains the following elements:

  • configuration files
  • log files
  • system information
  • network information
  • directory and files information
  • registry key configuration
  • (optional) application log from database
