Boot and Scan Virtual Machines

MetaDefender Drive supports booting from and scanning virtual machines. MetaDefender Drive has been tested on the following virtual machine software:

• Hypervisor

• VMWare Workstation (Windows and Linux)

• QEMU Virtual Machine Manager (Linux)

Boot and Scan VMWare Workstation Virtual Machines

The following example is a demonstration of booting your device using VMWare Workstation.

1. From VMWare Workstation, open the properties of the virtual machine you want to scan, and setthe firmware to UEFI

2. Power On VM to Firmware

3. Connect the MetaDefender Drive into the VM

4. Enter Boot Setup

5. Select Boot from a file

6. Find the your MetaDefender Drive device

7. Navigate to EFI

8. Navigate to Boot

9. Navigate to select grubx64.efi and wait until your virtual machine boots up
