Resolution

To address this situation, follow these steps:

  1. Restart your computer.

Restarting the PC often resolves issues related to Vault Helper installation. After the restart, attempt the installation process again to verify if the problem persists.

Nginx Startup Failure After MetaDefender MFT Installation

In certain instances, users may encounter difficulty starting Nginx after a successful Vault installation. This issue may be associated with port 8000 or 8010 being in use during the MetaDefender MFT restart. Although the installation completes successfully with a visible "Launch" button, clicking on it results in MetaDefender MFT being unable to access.

Resolution

To address this situation, follow these steps:

  1. Restart your computer.

Restarting the PC can help resolve issues related to port conflicts and Nginx startup failures. After the restart, attempt to launch MetaDefender MFT again and verify if the problem persists.

Service Restart Issue After Installation with Windows Authentication

Users may encounter difficulties manually restarting services after installing with the Windows authentication option, especially in affected versions equal to or greater than 3.0.8. The resolution involves enabling service logon after the installation process.

MetaDefender Managed File Transfer service is not accessible

If the MetaDefender Managed File Transfer web UI is inaccessible through your browser, resulting in a 502 Bad Gateway error.

Resolution

The root cause is likely one of the following

  1. The your firewall is blocking the server, in which case the solution is to:

    • Add the server to your firewall’s allowlist.
  2. You are attempting to access the web UI from different machine, in which case the solution is to:

    • Open the 8010 web UI port (default).
  3. Your MetaDefender Managed File Transfer install failed or was interrupted, in which case there are two possible solutions:

    • Fix your MetaDefender Managed File Transfer install
    • Reinstall MetaDefender Managed File Transfer.
  4. Check if the MetaDefender Managed File Transfer REST service is running.
