Scanning VMDK files

Nested VMDKs and snapshots are not supported.

VMDK files with Windows and Linux filesystems are supported. When VMDK images are selected for scanning, Kiosk traverses all the files inside. The number of files inside VMDK images are usually huge, so the preprocessing is also taking quite long time although the time remaining is estimated short.

Ensure that settings in Core allow scanning large amounts of files, if scanning for files within a VMDK is an expected part of the workflow. Users should also be aware that scanning may take a significant amount of time.

For VMDK images with Linux/MAC filesystems, conversion to VHDX is necessary in background. The conversion is taking time and requires free disk space of 1.5 times of the original VMDKs.

VMDK file paths should not exceed 260 character length.
