MetaDefender Endpoint Release Notes

MetaDefender Endpoint - Windows Persistent (7.6.2412.612)

Release date: December 18, 2024

New Features

On-Endpoint Scanning Enabling Disconnected Operation

Users can now scan files from removable media with a local anti-malware engine. Removing external dependencies and expanding new deployment options enables critical operation regardless of user location, or network status. This enhancement makes MetaDefender Endpoint an all-in-one agent for seamless protection against peripheral and removable media threats.

Supported OS: The feature is available to users with devices running Windows 10/11

Improved Security with Drag-and-drop Secure File Download

Users can now benefit from a smoother workflow when downloading files securely from the web using drag and drop. This enhancement brings a seamless, intuitive and secure experience in downloading files from browsers as it prevents threats from bypassing scans and reaching critical endpoints.

Real-Time EntraID Reporting

  • Immediate detection and reporting of changes to EntraID (Azure information), including device ID.
  • Compliance reports are instantly updated and sent to the server.

Link App Updates to Vulnerability Fixes

Added a button on the Compliance Page linking directly to MDE Patch Management, enabling users to address vulnerable apps or OS updates quickly.

Account Switch for All Users

Account switching is now available to all users, regardless of account type. This feature requires the MDE UI to be activated.

Patch Management UI Update:

Updated the “Update” icon on the Patch Management page to align with the consistent icon style.

Bugs

  • Minor issues.

OPSWAT Media Validation Agent (OMVA - 2.0.13.307)

Release date: December 18, 2024

Bugs

Agent returns all expired manifest files from the .OPSWAT folder, while the remaining files are valid.

  • Expired manifest files are those that are no longer valid due to reasons such as outdated security policies, or exceeded validity periods. The agent identifies these expired files and skips them, while the remaining files in the folder are considered valid.

Don't show notification for validation when plugin USB device on Windows XP

  • In Windows XP, when a USB device is connected, the system typically performs a validation process to ensure the device is recognized and functions correctly. During this process, the operating system will display notifications to inform the user about the status of the validation, such as whether the device was successfully validated or if there were any issues.
