Unlocking BitLocker using BitLocker Recovery Key

  • To unlock the BitLocker encrypted volumes, MetaDefender Drive can use the Microsoft's built-in Recover Keys. If you have BitLocker Recovery Keys available and saved, you can simply put them into MetaDefender under the folder "MetaDefedender Drive --> tools --> bitlocker" and boot your computer with the MetaDefender Drive and your disks get unlocked and ready to scan.

If there is no Recovery Keys available for Bitlocker disk, please follow these steps

  • First, boot into Windows and then insert the OPSWAT MetaDefender Drive then unlock your BitLocker disks
  • Then right-click the unlocked disks, select "Manage BitLocker"

Then select "Save to a file" and save the Recovery Key in proper and safe place. Repeat this step for every encrypted disks on the computer.

After that, copy the Recover Key files into MetaDefender Drive under the folder "MetaDefedender Drive --> tools --> bitlocker"

In the next boot with MetaDefender Drive, the encrypted disks will be ready for scanning.
