MetaDefender can identify thousands of file types and perform in-depth analysis on hundreds of major file formats to enhance accuracy. File type verification is not the ultimate security protection for all use cases: our engineers analyze the file format identifier (magic signature), pattern and structure of the file content. This approach is not guaranteed to work for all file types. Both false positive and false negative incidences may potentially apply

• File type verification is a validation method so it does not mean all file types that are covered for verification are supported by Multi-Scanning or Deep CDR
