We ran a little test here at OPSWAT Labs earlier this week to help demonstrate why multi-scanning is so important.
First, we did a quick search on Google for keyloggers and downloaded four of them for our project. Next, we submitted all four to our free, online file scanning solution, Metascan Online, and got dramatically different results.

OPSWAT released their quarterly antivirus market share report today, with an additional section featuring peer-to-peer applications. The report announces the leading antivirus vendors and products in North America and worldwide, as well as Windows operating system usage in North America and worldwide. The peer-to-peer section of the report shows the market share of P2P applications worldwide.

OPSWAT announced today the first deployment of 30 antivirus engines on one box using Metascan® technology. Delivered recently to a prominent, undisclosed government defense agency, this custom Metascan package enables unprecedented malware scanning capabilities.
OPSWAT is excited to announce the acquisition of Napera Networks, a Seattle based company that developed cloud-based network monitoring solutions targeted at both home networks as well as small to medium sized organizations. Napera's technology helped OPSWAT integrate cloud management to the existing OPSWAT Gears platform for white-labeled endpoint management.
