Why is certification important for software vendors?

Ensuring that your products are compatible with the many technology solutions utilized by your enterprise and consumer customers improves their experience and reduces the number of support calls you receive. OPSWAT Certification verifies that endpoint security products are supported by the OESIS® Framework and therefore compatible with the many solutions that employ OESIS.

A product's level of compatibility with those solutions is reflected by its level of OPSWAT Certification. When your products are OPSWAT Certified at a bronze level, they are verified interoperable with leading technology solutions and become visible on the management stations for those solutions. With silver and gold certification, your products become more highly interoperable so that additional needs of your customers can be met.

The examples below show why OPSWAT Certification matters for security application vendors, as well as the advantages of silver and gold certification. 

Juniper Host Checker

Juniper customers use this management console to set requirements for end users, such as having an antivirus installed and having run a full system scan in the past 7 days. If the installed antivirus does not meet the silver certification criteria, the user will fail to meet the policy requirements and will be denied access, even if a full system scan has been recently completed.

In situations like the one mentioned above, OESIS cannot access the needed information because the interoperability level of the security application is not high enough. While all bronze certified applications can be detected as installed, silver certification is required for a product to be able to communicate information about full system scans, real time protection, and latest updates.

Citrix Access Gateway

Through the OESIS Framework, Citrix Access Gateway allows policies to be set for several categories of security applications. If a system administrator chooses to require that an endpoint has an antispyware, patch management or hard disk encryption product installed, all bronze certified products in that category are compatible and will be displayed as available products. 

If the system administrator chooses to additionally require that the installed encryption product is encrypting the system drive or that the real time protection of the antispyware is enabled, only silver certified products will be compatible and eligible to pass the policy. If the system administrator specifies that a product in one of these categories needs to be verified as authentic, only gold certified products will be compatible and eligible to pass the policy.
