Scareware Strikes through Twitter

A Twitter worm is in wide circulation this morning, leading users to the "Security Shield" rogue antivirus. The worm uses Google's goo.gl redirection service to get users to the scareware site and trick them into downloading a fake antivirus program.

Shortened links, such as the goo.gl option, have been used previously to blindly push users onto pages with malware. Protect yourself against these risks by clicking shortened URLs only from trusted sources, or use a free tool likeSucurito un-shorten the URL and view the true destination of the link.
